Theresa Kotvis is a color-obsessed abstract artist living in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon.

Theresa’s paintings are recognized by the solid fields of color placed side-by-side in a hard-edge style; and by the use of her preferred medium, acryla gouache, which has a velvet matte finish.

Her time as an artist began in 2014. After years raising her children and volunteering in the community, she started taking classes from local artists. She is self-taught and currently enjoys studying the teachings of the Bauhaus color theorists Itten, Klee, and Albers.

Theresa incorporates design elements inspired by the creations of the women weavers of the Bauhaus, art quilts, and stained glass. Her current Symmetry Series was born of childhood memories of time spent gazing through a kaleidoscope.

She welcomes visitors to her home art studio by appointment, and enjoys showing her work locally since 2018.
